Hi All
Just upgraded to Vivaldi today from Opera. Fortunately, before Opera went all American on us and prevented the export of Bookmarks, I’d saved a bookmark file. I used this to import most of my bookmarks into Vivaldi. Went into the Show Panel bookmark view, deleted all of the useless stuff, sorted “alphabetically” (Name Order in Vivaldi) and added the Bookmarks Menu to the bookmarks toolbar. Sadly, the alphabetical sort doesn’t migrate to the menu on the toolbar, and there is no sort facility that I can see to do this. Do I have to manually drag each Bookmark folder over a period of days to get the right order, or is there a secret programmers tunnel to it that I have to join the Freemasons to obtain the knowledge of?
First post, so feel free to point and laugh.
No pointing and laughing…
I don’t think Chromium was designed with Bookmarks in mind… more of an afterthought. Perhaps I have not devoted enough time to figure them out. Managed to Import but sorting seems a pain.
I do not use the Bookmark Bar so I can’t comment on that.
Although I do not like FF bookmarks I slightly prefer them (although [b]not at all up to the standards set by Opera =

You need to go in the options to uncheck “Ignore Bookmarks Bar”.
If you’re new to chrome extensions, i’ve got a liste here: https://gist.github.com/yunga/b46926d0b2360fc21c1ae35f60ae30a6
My notes about bookmarks:
1) In Vivaldi, it’s wery important for me the return to write in the DESCRIPTION of all my bookmarks; this is a very good present, after many years using Opera that now (12) lost this feature and traw out all the descriptions of my imported bookmars.
2) I think that we all need to keep our bookmarks into a sure place, but how we can export our Bookmarks with Vivaldi?
3) editing the description of a bookmark, the “enter” key behaviour is like a “tab” key, so if I need to write two or more rows i have to place many and many “spaces” to go at the next row.
4) the icons in the bookmarks are for me not so useful than someone ask, or in the Quik Start page.
Thanks everyone for sharing such insights. We worked quite a bit on the bookmarks lately and more will come soon. Have you tried Vivaldi’s latest version from vivaldi.net ? 🙂
